Where Akuut comes from

The start of a digital brand

"Akuut" is derived from the word acute, which can mean two things. First it can be an unpleasant or unwelcome situation or phenomenon of a sever or intense degree. Secondly it can mean having or showing a perceptive understanding of a situation. However, to me, Akuut means more than that. It's a word that describes a lifestyle and a way of thinking. It's about the unexpected and being there out of nowhere. From 0 to 100 in a split second. By being Akuut, I am unexpected yet strong and reliable. As a persona, a designer, a creative and a webpersonality.

So from now on, if you see the word acute, think of the positive side of the unexpected and the fierceness of webdesign.

Meet Wouter,

The face behind Akuut

Now, Akuut is the persona for me, Wouter Waumans.
I'm a 23 year old digital experience designer from the Antwerp region who likes to call himself an out of the box creative. You might ask, what do you mean by that? And the answer is simple. I try to believe being a creative is more than having a creative mind. It also means thinking logically, but not taking the obvious route. This might definetly be visible in my designs. I will put user experience above all else, but my product needs to be visibly pleasing, or at least interesting, as well.

Making digital products has been a way of expressing this Akuut way of living, where I can be creative and logical at the same time, yet still able to surprise people with unexpected choices. Being symmetrical but twisted at the same time, showing almost no progress, and BAM, there is a finished product.
